Wang Ao, a poet and critic, earned his doctorate in literature at Yale University, and currently teaches in the School of East Asian studies at Wesleyan University. He has won the An Gao Poetry Award, the People’s Literature New Writers Award, and others. Wang is the author of the poetry collection, Wang daoshi de gudu zhi xin julebu (The Daoist Wang’s Lonely Hearts Club), Juegou yu chuanqi shi (Quatrains and Legendary Poems), and more. He has also translated a collection of literary essays, Dushi de yishu (The Art of Reading Poetry), as well as poems by Wallace Stevens, W. H. Auden, Hart Crane, and others.
